About P3. (David)
I’m another student of age around 19/20-ish, depending on how long this blog has been going on, and apparently the guy who has to sit out of the PS2 matches. I also, apparently unusually, have never started, run or even been a member of a video-gaming society.
My gaming tastes used to be of the puzzle and simpler strategy type, with my first love being the LucasArts point-and-click adventure games. Two of the first proper games (as in non-educational) that I played on our first computer were The Secret of Monkey Island and Worms and Reinforcements United, which probably explains that. As my gaming abilities have increased I’ve started to play more FPSs, especially the Halflifes and Far Cry, 3rd person action and RPGs. I have dabbled in platformers, but they have to be something special for me to keep playing.
In terms of ability I’d rate myself beneath Ian on average, and woefully below Joe. He’s had more practise though. I do have a knack for adventure and puzzle games, though this is probably more down to experience than anything else.
I have a strong interest in gaming history and am enjoy finding out about (and playing) the games of yesteryear. I’m starting to get quite good at getting ancient games to work on my XP machine. I have also spent a lot of time making games in the past, using engines from O.H.R.R.P.G.C.E., the RPG Maker series and the Game Maker to Adventure Game Studio which is (probably) the best out there. Unfortunately I have a bit of a track record for spending time on a project then abandoning it, so I only have a few finished products to show for many years of interest.
Other than gaming I watch a lot of films, clash film tastes with my housemates, hang around with friends and criticise a lot of TV. I also occasionally sketch and draw, mostly cartoons and comics.
Platforms owned: PC, GameCube, PS2, Gameboy Pocket
The power of understatement. Don’t need no next gen, david.

Its still working and my 3rd party memory card hasn’t corrupted yet, so that’s always a bonus. Still go on an get the odd Smash Bros. trophy now and again
